Biography
Dr. Adam Payne currently serves as Assistant Professor of Psychology at Wentworth Institute of Technology in the School of Sciences and Humanities and the Provost's Faculty Fellow for the Honors Program. Centered on the idea that leadership is more of a function of behavior rather than a title or position, Payne is equipped with a wide array of leadership approaches and experiential learning exercises suitable for any age or environment. With almost 20 years of teaching and administrative experience in Higher Education, Dr. Payne possesses a great deal of the theoretical and applied knowledge that fields of study such as the social sciences, research methods, leadership, business, and management have to offer. Payne has presented his courses, his research, and his applied experience at conferences and other engagements across the globe, and understands how to make use of the right tools to help people and organizations thrive. Dr. Payne earned a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership and Learning from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. His dissertation investigated the initial group formation of bands of General Business (GB) Musicians. Additionally, he earned a Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Statistics from the University of Central Florida (Go Knights). In addition, Adam served as the Chair/President of the UPenn Chief Learning Officer (CLO) Alumni Network from 2019 to 2024, and has been a Board Member since 2018.
